This Peakhurst project involved a two-storey Colorbond roof with seven separate solar panel arrays across the main roof and garage.

Panels directly beneath nearby trees had developed significant lichen growth and were exposed to pollen and other organic material, while panels elsewhere on the same property were considerably less affected. We also removed lichen from the solar hot water system.

With the main roof approximately 5–6 metres above ground level, several safety harness points were required to safely access and clean the different arrays.

All solar panels were cleaned to manufacturers’ cleaning specifications using pure water — no pressure washing, abrasives, chemicals or detergents.

This project is a great example of how the immediate environment, particularly nearby trees, can affect solar panels differently — even on the same property.
